wars are not board games

I have to admit. . . I'm guilty of playing a game of Civ 4 for the first time in about. . . oh, two, two and a half decade a few nights ago.

Might try Civ 5 tonight or tomorrow. . .

There's only one small problem: hardly anything was enhanced from the game! It's like having the board game slapped directly onto your monitor -- complete with those tiny tiles covering the different territories. A 3D mode would have gone a long way in improving the cluttered look of the screen.

I never got much game play out of my Crusader Kings. . . this level of detail just never appealed to me much. The politics and culture really teach you A LOT about how it restricts what you can do in the military.

If you are interested in this level of detail, the game to look at, is probably, at this point, the most recent Europa Universalis IV. This is the most realistic, IMO.
