This is posted in the Health forum because it shows the health benefits of these two foods, but speciifically the benefits of eating walnuts.

This is a brain food and is important for your brain health, it has polyunsaturated fats your brain needs, specifically Omega 3 and Alpha Lipoic Acid. I would suggest to anyone to find a way to eat these daily, you can add them to a variety of different foods.

Walnuts are more likely to cause an allergic reaction out of people than pecans.
Also Walnuts are Cholesterol raising nuts....pecans are not.

Stick with pecans.

Interesting, I need to research this more.

Regardless of the cholesterol, the benefits far outweigh anything else. They also have polyphenols, which are anti-oxidants and have protective benefits against cancer.

Agree....there's lots of good stuff with Walnuts.
But as a pecan grower I'm going to recommend the pecans over Walnuts every time.
Plus I'm slightly allergic to Walnuts. Mouth and throat itch like watermelon, Avacado, or kiwifruit can cause.

If you're not allergic eat some nuts, any nuts - unsalted. Good for your blood pressure and all kinds of stuff.

You grow pecans? That's awesome.

There is no comparison in flavor, pecans are delicious, and honestly one of the most flavorful of all nuts. Walnuts are not even close, and rather flavorless (organic) so that's why I add them to a cup of blueberries, a cup of almond milk, and blend. Try that sometime, it tastes amazing.

There are literally dozens of varieties of pecans. (Odd fact I never knew until I began to grow them)

Some taste so buttery you would swear I infused them with real butter.

Others have a very superior and pronounced flavor that you would swear I used some form of flavor enhancer on. (The two varieties I grow)
Others are small, some are huge, some have thick shells and others have shells paper thin. You literally have to go to a chart to figure out which ones you have.

i used to chew raw Walnuts while doing my mail route....great snack...

Nothing like fresh pecans. They crack so easy when they are very fresh. The shell doesn't break into many pieces like when they are getting old.
