The Biden administration has walked away from legal negotiations in which it was considering paying $450,000 to each adult and child separated at the southern border during the Trump administration.
The U.S. government “has ended negotiations over a settlement of the cases seeking monetary compensation,” according to the ACLU. Lead attorney Lee Gelernt told CBS News that the Biden administration’s decision not to pay affected families was the result of having “allowed politics to get in the way of helping the little children deliberately abused by our government.”
Approximately 5,400 children were separated at the border and sent to HHS facilities, while their parents were referred for prosecution for illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

On the one hand, it’s obviously good that this utterly insane, perverse-incentive scheme has been ditched. On the other hand, it would have been the Dems’ most massive “own goal” in recent history. The payouts to lawbreakers, topping $1 million for a family of three, would have been so over-the-top offensive to Americans of all races and political leanings who are working hard to support their families that it would have been utterly devastating to Dem congressional candidates in 2022....And it still could be devastating IF THE FECKLESS REPUBLICANS kept this mass scheme to BUY invaders votes AFTER making them citizens (they still have 3 THAT IS THREE years to make this a reality) in front of ALL American voters!!!!
