Venus Williams killed an old man out of sheer stupidity

She stopped until the light turned green. I do believe she was negligent in not driving defensively by not double checking the intersection, but she had the right of way. I live here. They have video of the light. The driver of the other car went against the light.

It is an unfortunate accident. And the driver where she hit lived, the passenger died 10 days later.

I believe the original poster is saying she stopped in the intersection and allowed the oncoming car to turn in front of her, as opposed to stopping to avoid an accident. That's quite possible but you would really need to see where that 'left-turning' car was when she stopped. The video doesn't show it.

Venus was by the utility truck in the left lane. The other car was backed up by a gate exit. The black car could not have been coming too fast even if it was pushing to get through. Venus needed to keep going and the car would've waited another cycle to turn.

Green means proceed with caution, everyone knows that when lights change there can still be yield traffic and left turn traffic in an intersection.

I heard on the news just yesterday Venus was not at fault. I feel for that man that passed but if Venus was not at fault , she is not at fault. The black car never turned in front of Venus. She stopped and allowed it turn. During that turn the light turned yellow. Her back wheels were no more than 20 feet (INTO THE INTERSECTION) from the curb. She proceeded to drive through the entire stretch of a very long intersection on a burning red light. She should've backed up because that would've prevented the accident.

She was about 10 feet from the curb. She should've immediately backed up at the sight of yellow. That's a long way to go on a red light when all you gotta do is back up. Venus Williams played russian roulette with innocent lives. One innocent life got the bullet. God Bless the Barsons.

It is hard to tell from the video, but I think the car that crashed into Venus was going to brake hard to stop at the red light, but when at the last instant it turned green the car kept going while maintaining full speed. That is a very dangerous way to drive darting past drivers slowly getting going from a light. Red means caution but that car did not slow down like it should have. That is a good way to hit a pedestrian and is probably the cause of the crash.
