Vangelis was the by far the best part of the overrated movie Chariots of Fire wonderful beginning score with those runners on the sand I still remember at the movie house.

Sad news. I still own the vinyl version of the Chariots of Fire soundtrack, and a couple CD's of his music. The soundtrack to Blade Runner is absolutely fantastic. Thanks for the post, RIP to a wonderful composer.

He was also member of greek progressive rock band Aphrodite's Child formed in 1967, by Vangelis.
Demis Roussos , who was later became famous solo singer, was also in this band.
