He was Dutch. But that's a reflection of our British and Dutch history, which were the two main groups that built early America. (New York was originally known as New Amsterdam.)

van Buren however was the only POTUS whose native language was not English. Is that what you mean?

As far as "the two main groups that built early America" I think you're leaving out the French, Germans and Spanish. Not to mention the slaves.
 
The Father of our Country and the first American President George Washington was a British Subject. So what's the point?
