The lighter penguin is an elderly female whose partner died this year. The darker one is a younger male who lost his partner two years ago. Biologists have followed them as they meet every night to comfort each other. They stand for hours together watching the lights. Photographer Tobias Baumgaertner captured this image of two widowed fairy penguins looking over the Melbourne skyline. It has won an award in Oceanographic magazine’s Ocean Photography Awards 2020.

Good Sunday afternoon, all. It seems to be another hot day at 106°F in Walker County, Texas, so I'm sitting in front of a strong fan, hoping we have another cool night tonight. For some reason it feels dog day hot, but in the shade, the fresh air is a lot cooler than the sun usually allows, and outdoors, sweat is profuse these past few weeks. I'm not complaining, because it was cool last night, so I located a fan by 2 windows, upstairs and downstairs. the main air conditioner is kerplunk, and since the controls went dark it runs the heater instead of the air conditioner. :dunno:

Hope all of you have better weather controllers than me. The fan is very helpful. I have a touch of gastrointestinal issues, and am dizzy to the point of the room seeming to be moving in a circle. No, I'm not taking any meds. I dislike missing church, but I don't drive when I'll for any reason. I feel better this afternoon, and the ceiling has ceased its spinning. Hope everyone else is avoiding the new COVID epidemic scheduled recently. A zinc supplement and fresh-squeezed oranges or other citrus beverage is said to help with prevention along with the warning to avoid sugar which triggers mischief in some viruses, and currently, COVID. Be healthy, take it easy, and don't forget to take your vitamins and minerals if your diet is unbalanced by too many carbohydrate snacks and sodas. A close friend of mine has COVID, so I looked up nutrition for COVID a couple of days ago. May God hold you in the palm of his loving hands.

Reset your ac breakers. Turn off then on. Worth a shot but sounds like your 24vac is out for the thermostat?

Morin' all........ Yup it's 3:05AM......... After a series of comedies that kept me from getting quarterly steroid shots in my knees I finally had them yesterday. Just suffice it to say it was a combination of their oops and my oops. Oh and totally forgot that one of the side affects that strike me is insomnia. Not to mention my Sleep Number bed was crapping out after 7 years and to replace everything would have been more expensive then buying a new one. However since I don't have that kind of money I found a very highly rated (a couple thousand reviews) combo gel/memory foam 8" mattress on sale for $150 at Wally World. Almost $300 off retail (indicated retail that is), probably a discontinued model. It arrived today strangely in a 12 inch x 12 inch x 62 inch box. When I pulled it out it was rolled like a compact tube and was definitely compressed. Cut the plastic off, placed it on the box spring and after a few minutes it had expanded from about 2 inches thick to 8 inches thick. Of course trying to sleep on a new mattress didn't help my insomnia any. LOL
Hopefully this insomnia will only last one day........
In the meantime hope everyone is doing well.

I've gotten a couple of mattress-in-a-boxes before. Usually you are supposed to let them lay out for a day before you use them. I don't know how much is so they can re-inflate after being compressed and how much is attempting to get rid of the smell that always accompanies them. :P
If you don't like the mattress, you can try putting a topper on it. Cheap mattress + topper is still way cheaper than getting one of the expensive mattresses.

Welp, up again a 3AM but this time it was after 6.5 hours of solid sleep. Finally went to bed yesterday about quarter to 9PM, I was out almost as soon as my head hit the pillow. Unfortunately I'll have to wait for my bed to dry before I get back in it. What!!?? Nope, I didn't pee my bed. My CPAP has a humidifier built in and sometimes water gets into the hose. That happened and when I removed the mask i accidentally lowered it below the level of the pump and it sprayed the water all over the top sheet. I'm not sleeping in a cold wet spot.......... LOL
Oh and I like this mattress a lot. Definitively different support spots then my Sleep Number which seems to be good. I woke up with much less back pain on this mattress.

Ha! its 4.35 am in Britain. I have been awake for an hour because something went bump in the night and I could not get back to sleep.
Actually it was more of a clatter than a bump, but I looked around and cannot see a cause for it. Nothing appears to have fallen down.

I've decided getting 6 to 8 hours uninterrupted sleep is a thing of the past for me. With Melatonin and acetaminophen PM I can usually go to sleep fairly early but it seems I'm awake again ever hour to two hours. I do manage to get back to sleep though. I seem to be healthy enough though so I guess it could be worse. Hope the new mattress works for you. You would think a sleep number bed would last longer than seven years though. Grrr.

Well here's hoping you're having less clatter last night as it is almost time to get up again there. Still 30 minutes to midnight here so I'll be headed to bed shortly.

Hombre & Foxfyre's son Mike for continued wellness
Beautress for health and wellness.
SFC Ollie for healing and wellness
Gracie for solutions and peace.
Mrs. Saveliberty for rapid and trouble free healing

And we keep the light on so those who have moved on to other places can find their way back. And we hope they do.

It is the end of August and this weekend is the traditional end of summer though many of us still will likely have some hot weather ahead. May September be a good experience for us all. Sometimes at night I still hear the migrating ducks, geese, and sandhill cranes flying overhead in the night sky.
