Republicans criticized President Biden for draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to lower gas prices ahead of the 2022 midterms. Now President Trump is going to do the same thing by releasing 172 million barrels of oil to help lower prices ahead of the 2026 midterms.

During an interview Wednesday with WKRC Local 12 in Cincinnati, Trump was asked about tapping the reserve and said, “Well, we’ll do that and then we’ll fill it up.”
He added, “Right now we’ll reduce it a little bit, and that brings the prices down.” He didn't specify in that interview how many barrels of oil the U.S. would release.
Trump frequently criticized the administration of Joe Biden for tapping the reserve to try and bring down gas prices.

The difference is as soon as Biden took office and immediately passed legislation that put more regulations and restrictions on US Energy producers. Prices went up. At the midterms, gas prices were high yet there was no geopolitical event. Biden needlessly released reserves. Trump takes office. Lifts Biden restrictions and regulations. Gas prices drop. Trump creates a geopolitical event to correct a 47 year threat. Gas prices increase. Trump releases the reserves.

Do you know if these barrels come with strings attached?

First I assume they sell the oil to someone that refines it. Lets say Chevron.
Chevron buys a barrel of oil.

Are there any conditions imposed by the Administration on what they make out of it? In other words....

Does the blob require Chevron to make nothing but gasoline?

If not, the release doesn't mean that there are 172M more barrels of gas out there.

Biden went anti oil, shut down pipelines and threw down a bunch of regulations on the industry. THEN when the price skyrocketed, he used our strategic reserves to help democrats from being thrown out of office over it. We had to buy all the oil that he shutdown here, from other countries. It was all self inflicted for no good reason at all, other than to PRETEND to be green, while just buying our oil from other countries instead of producing it ourselves.

Explain to me one god damn benefit we got from Bidens disastrous energy policies. There isnt one.

When it comes to Iran, the potential benefit is obvious and significant. There is no comparison between Trump and Biden.

Oil production under Biden was breaking all time records
