Who would that be? Most history books put the first muslim woman head of state as Benizar Bhutto in 1988.

She would of course be predated by Hindu Indira Ghandi, Israeli Golda Mier, Protestant Margaret Thstcher not to mention effective monarchs like Queen Victoria of England or even Cleopatra of Egypt, neither of whom was muslim.
