The Trump administration is preparing a potential economic agreement with Cuba that could signal a dramatic shift in U.S.-Cuba relations, according to a report by Francesca Chambers of USA Today.

Two sources familiar with the administration's plans told the newspaper that officials are close to announcing a deal with Havana, though the exact timing and details remain unclear.

The agreement could include easing restrictions on Americans traveling to the Cuban capital and expanding economic cooperation between the two nations.

Cuban leadership might be at the point where they’re trying to avoid being hung from lamp posts and just looking for a way out.

Play nice for a few months until new leadership can be put in place with free elections and we look the other way as they escape to some other country.

If true this would be great for both countries.

Personally, I strongly suspect that this could be real and that the people of Cuba could soon be free from a truly horrible government that cooperated with Drug Cartels and Crime gangs all over the world.

My wife is from Ecuador so she keeps me up to date on events and trends in South America.

Let's not pretend we're going to be giving the country we've been blockading and starving for the last few months anything like a "free" election.

I'm sure the people of Cuba will want to elect another communist authoritarian.
Place your money on it, it's the smart money. :rolleyes-41:

We've spent months starving their population into submission. The person who is "elected" will be a U.S. firster who will let our oligarchy cut up Cuba into pieces and distribute them amongst themselves. We'll see if it ends in a revolution again like it did last time.

Form Teddy Roosevelt's time until now we have been either invading them, blockading them, or financing revolutions there. Why would they believe anything we say? The CIA sent hundreds of their teams to Cuba to start fires, sink ships, blow up refineries, fire on civilians there to influence their politics, the very definition we have for terrorism here. What has changed here except the names?

Whatever happens, at least they will have a chance at it being better than what they had.

Trump wasn't in charge. :rolleyes-41:
That is what is blatantly obvious, that you ignore.
Trump isn't part of the 'Good Ol' Boys Club'. :eusa_whistle:

Instead of using our superpower capabilities to try bankrupting a country for over 60 years and ultimately starving them into submission with a blockade, I would have liked an attempt at introducing our ideology there through trade and letting it prove itself superior. Now I think we're going to rape their resources again which is what led to the revolution in the first place.

Let China impose a blockade on Taiwan—even if just for a year—and let’s see what happens...
By the way, keep this post in mind.

You must be confusing the Cuban Government with that fascist Batista.

Another American inflicted atrocity, it's time the Russians put their money where their mouth is, i saw a report days ago about some Russian oil tankers heading for Cuba but nothing since.
I heard they crossed the English Channel
