Then you turned the economy into a rent seeking oligarchy where having kids is unaffordable.
Nope. Not true. People need to be able to afford food, housing. Health insurance, etc. They have adjusted to affordability accordingly. It takes 2 middle class incomes today just for 2 full time workers to barely hang on. People won't have kids they can't afford to take care of. Bottom line.Having children has never been affordable. What has changed is the diminishing value people place on a family as opposed to materialism
Then how did anybody get here?Having children has never been affordable.
You sound like you haven’t raised children in a very long time.Having children has never been affordable. What has changed is the diminishing value people place on a family as opposed to materialism

Not everyone wants to eek by. No need for many to have kids. It's not a duty. Remember that fact.Very true
And before they fasted and lived in tents?
I know a few families with only one income. My niece is a stay-at-home mom of three and her husband is a nurse. I have a coworker who is the sole bread winner and has two kids. I know another guy with three kids and his wife is a stay-at-home mom. His family lives in a trailer (completely paid off) and they regularly shop at the thrift store. What all of these people have in common is they live within their means and don't have largesse.
My father is a Boomer who is one of seven kids and my grandparents never had a pot to piss in, yet they adequately raised and provided for all seven kids and this was before the welfare state. They did this in a three-bedroom house. It is absolutely doable if you prioritize.
Most people today don't want to prioritize having a family over a career (especially women) and want their expensive gadgets and luxuries as opposed to living without those things and raising a family.
Why should they go without those gadgets? As a Christian I disagree with your surmise.Very true

In other words, thank you for confirming it is indeed about prioritizing a family versus materialism, exactly as I said. Not everyone wants to eek by. No need for many to have kids. It's not a duty. Remember that fact.
Too funny. I say hold off on marriage until one is financially well off. The responsible way. Have a nice day.In other words, thank you for confirming it is indeed about prioritizing a family versus materialism, exactly as I said.

Then don’t judge the financial stress of modern parenting. My son just graduated from Berkeley.

The problem isn’t materialism.
So if less and less have them what is the problem? Answer? It's not a problem.Having children has never been affordable. What has changed is the diminishing value people place on a family as opposed to materialism
Only if they're criminals and freeloading Democrats playing the system and undermining all hardworking American citizens..Those who want to end birthright citizenship don't want anymore black and brown citizens born.
