US Birthrate Continues to Decline

It's not my business what young married people do. If they don't want kids, that's their choice and that's WONDERFUL. If they do that's wonderful too. Both pathways are equally good. Emphasis equally.
I know that its difficult for you to think about the concerns of others....but do try.

But an environment where young couples wildest dreams can easily come true of a house and children both where it's not impossible or highly improbable.....
(It used to be this way)

That's what we are want to have happen.

If a young couple wants kids they are free to have them. What you need to accept is a growing number have decided they want other things. They are free to do what they want, exempt from society's pressure. Thats what we want to have happen.

That's where you are wrong....
They are not free to have children. They are not free to purchase a home. Far from it.

They absolutely cannot afford to have these things. It's a pipe dream they cannot afford.
Say two YUPPYs fall in love and get married.
Combined they will be in debt for school loans in excess of $250,000 but earn a combined total of $125,000/yr. (I'm being extremely generous here) That barely covers rent, utilities, groceries, and transportation. No new cars, no nice vacations....they get staycations. No eating out....they cook EVERY MEAL at home and never even a Starbucks coffee or boba tea.

They are desperately poor but still doing better than 95% of their classmates they went to college with.

How can they afford a $12,500 to $25,000 down payment for a small starter home much less a $3500/month daycare cost....plus doctor visits, plus formula, diapers, and etc that plague a young couple having a baby.

They are not going to have children but claim they dont want them....
Both are scared they are gonna get laid off next month.
Ever hear the fable where the fox claims that the grapes are sour?
Same thing here.

Most new college graduates earn around $45,000/yr not 62,000.....paying their college loans is beyond their budgets. Much less affording children.
