Indonesia shrimp showing trace amounts of cesium 137. Walmart issues recall. Claims the shrimp are below unsafe levels but don't eat and discard.......LoL

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration asked Walmart to pull three lots of Great Value brand frozen shrimp from stores after federal officials detected Cesium-137, a radioactive isotope, in shipping containers and a sample of breaded shrimp imported from Indonesia.

Gee, can't imagine how that got through the FDA inspectors.

Oh yeah, DOGE fired them all!

No
This is not even CLOSE to all the seafood recalls from Asia for years
Solution - stop buying Chinese/Indonesian/Vietnam seafood.
Really is that simple.
Put American fisherman back in business.

I thought Trump wanted to get rid of the FDA.

OP could have stopped at "don't buy shrimp from Walmart." Radioactivity is just making it spicy.

Cesium like mercury and arsenic are fat soluble and stays in your body till you eat enough to be a lethal amount.
The products could pose a "potential health concern" for people exposed to low levels of Cesium-137 over time, FDA officials said.

you mean I won't turn into Spider-Man?

Walmart was not the only buyer of the shrimp. Only walmart recalled their shrimp. God bless the south red states for protecting the people.

Most shrimp are imported from Ecuador or other S. American countries, at least that's what I see in the market here.

However, the FDA then learned that Walmart had received potentially affected products imported after the first detection, from shipments that did not trigger contamination alerts.

Looks like they were on it

Those lots were WM specific.

The Gulf has been very nearly dragged dry of Shrimp. I know, I live in a Shrimp Fishing Town. Or what used to be one, anyways. Until the Expat Fatties from the NorthEast Corridor moved down and destroyed everything with an overdose of terminal cellulite. whatev

Most of that Shrimp from Asia is Farmed. Aquaculture. Not wild. And from what I read and understood, it wasn't the shrimp so much as the containers it was shipped in.

As to putting American Workers in Jobs..... You don't want to work on a Shrimp Boat. You really don't. You really, really, REALLY don't. Honestly..... You don't

Argentine Shrimp, the Red Shrimp? SUCKS ass. You can smell it before you see it and it tastes worse than it smells. Tiger Shrimp from Asia is better by far. Doesn't have the texture I prefer and it's smaller but it's better than the Argentine shrimp that I've tasted. Maybe there's some I don't know about but the stuff I've tasted SUCKS.

The Asian Shrimp is good used in most dishes. The good stuff, from the Gulf, is better for Scampi and for Shrimp Cocktail -- Over Ice with a prepared Horseradish cocktail sauce. And Wine. Or warm served with Drawn Butter. And Wine. Tiger Shrimp helps save our Native Shrimp from extinction and most of the dishes it's used in -- You can't tell the difference anyway. At all.

Since we have a pro-business Admin now, we should be able to help resurrect some of the Aquaculture that was shut down by scum of the Earth dims. I knew a guy that bought an old quarry, a Sand Quarry, and converted to a fresh water farm for Catfish. Which I've never developed a tsate for.

Aquaculture is a thing. If we can keep dimocrap scum from ******* up everythng they touch, it could be a big thing in our Country over the nest ten years.

IF...

Only walmart recalled the shrimp. Nobody else. No small seafood shops. No restaurant suppliers.
