I think the "welfare magnet" does not exist. Foreigners come here for the availability of jobs and Trump has a real dilemma on this:

At 3.5 percent unemployment, presuming Trump is right, that is statistical zero unemployment. Therefore, it's hard to make the argument that foreigners are "stealing jobs" (which is a socialist argument to begin with.) It also negated the pretext that a wall would affect unemployment. Obviously, if we have statistical zero unemployment, we don't need a wall.

Where I live, I see what is going on. In the predominant white community, the white males 18 and up are more likely to have been on drugs since they were kids (and it started out with their parents, the schools, government, doctors, and Big Pharma.) Kids go from Adderall and Ritalin to legal opioids and eventually to SSRIs (associated with mass shootings.) They get into illegal drugs.

By the time they hit the age of majority, they have a drug habit, a criminal record, no high school diploma, no driver's license, no work ethic and their mommy doesn't really want them to work. So, they sit on their ass with the government giving them a debit card with a $650 balance to buy all the food they want each month. Mommy provides a free place to stay and they are content with that and the excuse that they can't get a career going with a fast food restaurant. Fast food places are not careers, so bitching about foreigners working in that field is a joke.

In my neighborhood if you advertise for a handyman, one of two classes of people show up: 300 pound rednecks with a gas guzzling truck that gets 6 mpg and they want a surgeon's wages to do minor home repairs. The other people you get are Mexicans. Since not all of us have the financial resources of Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, or Jeff Bezos, we have to make a harsh choice. Besides, Bubba and his gas guzzler end up being Bubba wanting $1000 an hour while hiring the same guys who show up at your door willing to work for $25 to $30 an hour.

I lobbied against National ID going back to the late 1970s. Once Georgia passed a law "requiring" all students to use their SSN as student ID. I submitted a proposed lawsuit to challenge the law. Bob Barr, who was the State Attorney General, advised the governor of what was about to happen. They reconvened the legislature and added a sentence to the law before the governor signed the bill. That sentence allowed the parents to object to the SSN requirement, forcing the schools to make up a student ID number.

I've spoken in many a venue over the years and have been on radio and tv, exposing National ID. AND, when the right endorsed it, they screwed the whole tax protester movement, killing the FAIR Tax idea with it... since the FAIR Tax would have gotten rid of the IRS and the SSN. Way to go guys! The right screwed us out of repealing the 16th amendment just to institute a form of National ID that would make Hitler blush if he were alive to see it.
