Gun mortality is not equal to gun crimes. Those states have higher rates because they are less restrictive on gun ownership, and guns are an effective way to commit suicide.

By your logic, someone from Alaska would be less suicidal if they just moved to Illinois, even though the chance of them being murdered is twice as high.

If you exclude the democrat run, high-crime cities like Memphis and New Orleans and St. Louis, those States are much lower on the list.
