Unions Beat Billionaires: Voters in Massachusetts just ratified the Fair Share Amendment, which taxes income above $1 million to fund public services

Where did I disagree with that?

Reread the thread so you can see how truly fucked in the head you are!
If a billionaire moves to Texas to avoid Massachusetts income taxes, that billionaire will then be spending his money in Texas, yes?

And Texas will be collecting sales taxes from that guy they otherwise would not have, yes?

So Massachusetts loses revenue while Texas gains.

I think that is the point 2AGuy is trying to make.

Thank you.......I appreciate your post. It seems fairly logical and simple.....the goal of the democrats allegedly is to raise more money to spend......the reality, as it always is when you raise taxes on people who have lots of money? They do everything they can to avoid giving that money to the people who did not earn it.....and so will even take the drastic step of moving out of state....even in Europe, I remember when the French tried this their millionaires moved too........

Euro Flop

Normally progressives like to point to Europe for policy success. Not this time. The experiment with the wealth tax in Europe was a failure in many countries. France's wealth tax contributed to the exodus of an estimated 42,000 millionaires between 2000 and 2012, among other problems. Only last year, French president Emmanuel Macron killed it.

In 1990, twelve countries in Europe had a wealth tax. Today, there are only three: Norway, Spain, and Switzerland. According to reports by the OECD and others, there were some clear themes with the policy: it was expensive to administer, it was hard on people with lots of assets but little cash, it distorted saving and investment decisions, it pushed the rich and their money out of the taxing countries—and, perhaps worst of all, it didn't raise much revenue.

So another fucktard decides to chime in?

The OP is about INCOME Taxes! Try to stay on topic. If you dipshits want to discuss the total economic impact, start a new thread!

In the 60s, the UK introduced a supertax of 95 percent on the wealthy.

So the Beatles created Apple Corp so they would pay a corporate tax instead of that income tax.

It also inspired one of their songs.

Should 5% appear too small
Be thankful I don’t take it all
‘Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman.

The topic is about creating punitive taxes on the rich and how stupid it is.

History has proven how stupid it is.

So help me out. When we are told we have to Make America Great Again. What do you all mean? If not the heyday of the nonexistent Nuclear Family, and not the era of Apollo. Then when were you hoping to revisit to make us great?

To restore America and to restore the Constitution the first thing we have to do is get rid of you greedy ass Socialist inbreds.

If we don't find a way then we all are fucked.

Of course the tax base will shrink.

If this catches on, it will rebuild a new tax base.

I think there's very little hope for it now that the Scotus has the power to keep income inequality and the American way safe and intact.
Build a new tax base from what? As people approach the cutoff point, they will simply move a few miles into another state. East Coast states are small and close together.

In the glory days of the 1950’s. Each tax bracket was progressively higher. As you earned more you paid more.

That was ended by JFK. Another of those filthy Democrats.

It was well and truly buried by Reagan.

But. We used to do it. During the period of time you idiots on the Right claim to want to return to. The Nuclear Family. Dad working. Mom pregnant in the kitchen cooking dinner.
Except no one paid the listed tax rates. There were so many exemptions and tax shelters that when Reagan simplified the tax structure, income WENT up from taxes.

The Brits did the same thing, that's why all the rock groups like the Beatles and Stones from the British Invasion immigrated to the USA.

They still do….a lot of entertainment types live in Ireland for the tax breaks.

I've always been right here.

This is a remake of a post I made during the 2012 election cycle:

He built a wildly successful company, that's what. His wealth is based on the value of the stocks he owns in his company.

Your post reminds me of something I posted years ago when Democrats were attacking Romney's wealth.

Did you know Mitt Romney bought an elevator for his car?!?

Let's tax the rich more!

If the subject was Trump, he couldn't build shit. Fingers are too short to wrap around a hammer handle.

If those states have no income taxes...

If you want to discuss sales taxes, start a thread on it!

Just STFU, if money is driven out of one State by taxes, it will advantage the State where that money lands. It matters not a fuck if those advantages are income, sales, property, excise, gas or other taxes.

.

Americans have to learn the hard way that taxation is necessary.

There's no debating necessary.

Trump had that figured out, even though his promises for the working class never turned into reality in their wallets.

Work hard. Work smart. Make money and then the goddamn welfare shitheads uses the government to steal it from you. God bless the USA!

We know taxation is necessary, you doofus. We also know that the politicians who demand more and more tax money use that money for themselves and their own power, so giving them more and more money through higher and higher taxes which they don't spend for the intended purpose...is just fucking stupid.

You don't get better results by giving corrupt politicians more and more money.

Voters in Massachusetts have shown us that with clear, broadly appealing messaging and strong labor union support, it’s possible to take on the rich and win billions for the public services we rely on. THIS is the model for the rest of America, NOT Florida!

watch the people and their money leave Mass en mass

We know. First, only the rich truly feel entitled as a matter of principle. They believe those who have to work ("earn" income) should have to pay the taxes. They are above all such pedestrian piffle so refuse to pay any share, let alone their fair share. The rich constantly amortize (get rewarded with free, new shit, simply for being rich enough to afford doing so). They actually gain from purchasing insurance (because they can hire expensive lawyers) rather than getting royally hosed like most everyone else. They even gain from making charitable contributions. Study our tax code and compare it to yours. The devilish class divide lurks within the details.
