Ukraine drained US stockpiles

It is possible, I think. If the Korean peninsula will be declared a 'neutral zone', not participating in any military alliances, and getting rid of any military bases of foreign powers there. And uniting the peninsula in some form of maybe even a confederation, at the first stages.
Hilarious! You are one funny guy! :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg:

Well, there has been a state of war there since 1950. And unless the North Korean government falls and one takes the place that is willing to actually end the war, that is entirely up to them.

In my mind, that is just a kind of mental insanity that infects more than one country in the region. But the odds of North Korea admitting they lost the Korean War is about as likely as China admitting they lost Taiwan over 7 decades ago. Reality has no place in that kind of mental illness.
The Kims regime is insane and ambitious. A quite danger mixture. And I think the Chinese understand this quite well. What is better for them - to have this regime as a proxy, or resolve the Korean issue turning the peninsula into a united (in some form), neutral and maybe even 'denuclearized' state. Of course the Kims won't allow this to happen. This will require a some kind of a coup among the elite. That depends on the Chinese resolve and what they consider to be the best solution for them.

But except of the Kims regime, there is another problem there - the US. They wouldn't want this issue resolved in this way, because that would dismantle their 'architecture of security' in the region that exists for 70 years. In this case, they would have to pack their things and leave the peninsula, losing a leverage against China. They would try to prevent that.

Sorry, but that is bullshit conspiracy theory nonsense.

The US has no need for "Korea" for "security" in the region. We already have a much larger and more capable ally in Japan, which has much better facilities for the military than Korea could ever offer. As well as Guam, once again much better than Korea.

In reality, I can think of few places well suited for a "military presence" than a peninsula. Hell, this can be seen at the very start of the Korean War, where the US Military was in much the same situation that the UK-French forces were at the start of WWII at Dunkirk. But with almost 100,000 US soldiers trapped at Pusan, there was never any hope of evacuating them so they had to dig in then fight their way back out. Looking back at many of the battles in modern history, the absolutely worst place you want to be in such a situation is a freaking peninsula! Especially one without any particularly good ports that can be fortified to make a withdrawal from.

This is a fact, there is absolutely nothing the US gains in Korea that they do not get much better from Japan. We only remain because South Korea is a key ally, and we are obligated to support and defend them. And much like the vast majority of US bases in Germany, once unification happened the US simply smiled and walked away.

The troops there is a projection of force, one of the ways of preserving American relevance in the region and making sure America will have a place in possible resolution of the Korean crisis (as part of leverage against China).

When America closes down its Rammstain air base, it would become appropriate to talk about 'smiling and walking away'.

The troops there is a projection of force

And why do we need that, when we have Okinawa and Guam?

The forces in Korea are actively involved in helping keep North Korea at bay. We literally have the Third Marine Division just sitting on Okinawa for a reason. That is their job to project force if needed, not the forces in Korea.

Rebuilding U.S. Inventories: Six Critical Systems

At the current rate of production, it will take 5 to 18 years to replenish the weaponry we’ve sent to Ukraine

It never ceases to amaze me that we spend nearly a Trillion annually to fund an organization that’s as poorly run as NY Public Housing and for the exact same reason: the leadership enriches itself at the expense of the organization.

What a multifold clusterfuck. First arming Ukraine in the first place and second leaving us without weapons

Alright, job security.
