She should have packing. And I would bet this isnt the first time he's roughed her up.
You'd be surprised at the number of companies that don't want their security officers to actually be able to protect them or their property by being armed. They don't like the optics - it either scares or makes nervous their employees, their customers, etc.

Again, you say military experience is an asset. Again, I ask in what way. How often does experiencing the horrors of war make a person a better representative? No doubt experiencing the horrors of war had an effect on the guy who beat that small security guard to death, but how often do we need a congressman to beat a small woman to death?
Well since not all military experience involves directly killing others in combat, one might think that if nothing else that being in the service provides them with training and teaches them discipline.
