Memphis is high crime. The police are going to be a lot more sensitive because the odds of them stopping an armed criminal is quite high. Most of the compliance holds are illegal. Tyre should have just complied.

First degree murder needs to meet one of two criteria. One is it has to be shown to be premeditated, these sickos didn’t plan to kill Tyre. The second is the murder is committed while involved in another felony.

I am pro death penalty and yet in todays world, I don’t believe it is in the best interest of justice. Life without any possibility of parole is the max. The fact that not one of them stepped in to stop the beating is very disturbing.

I’m not sure of a solution however I hope the family Sue’s the city for 100’s millions and wins and then maybe just maybe someone starts to change the culture that led to this tragic death.

I don’t see that happening. Until we demand change, it isn’t going to happen.

When an officer walks up to a suspect lying on the ground with two cops on top and kicks him in the head twice

When officers hold him upright so another officer can beat him with a baton

When officers hold him upright while another officer repeatedly sucker punches him

But the suspect acted stupidly and contributed to his own death

Every time I’ve had to deal with police officers, guess what I did?

Comply.

Crazy fucking concept.

I’m this case the officers screwed up from the second they made contact with Nichols. The kid was complying and the officers escalated their aggression. They went into a mob mentality mode. They never allowed him to comply.

Yes, the guy ran, but I understand why. He was being beaten even while attempting to comply with their orders. Basically the kid went into fight or flight mode. He chose flight.

As a former deputy sheriff I can safely say that there is no justification for their actions. They were yelling instructions at the kid and never allowed him to comply. They just kept beating him as he’s attempting to follow their instruction.

They should be held criminally liable. They should spend the rest of their life in prison.
