For everyone else, most movies are in fact, products of their time. That's the point. You couldn't make X today because while it was something that resonated in 1975, it feels truly dated today.
This is why so many remakes fail.
I give you an example. The Stepford Wives of 1972. It hit on two themes. 1) Feminism is destroying the traditional family and 2) Robots can replace us. By the time they made a remake in 2005, society had more or less come to peace with both of those notions. So the movie... just didn't work.
