My contention all along has been that NONE of this disaster is about Trump. For me, it's about two things: First, it's about a society that has become so sick and shallow that a large portion of it would fall head over heals for a blatant con man, a celebrity buffoon, the fun Batman villain. Look at the people we revere simply because they are "celebrities" -- From Kim Kardashian to TikTok "influencers". That says far more about the country than it does about them.

And second is this group of people who have enabled him (just as Europe saw 90 years ago), especially congressional Republicans. They could have grown some ******* balls and put a stop to this LONG ago. Or even today, if enough got together. But they're all afraid to whisper a discouraging word, just as we saw in Europe, 90 years ago. Those people were afraid for their lives, while these people put up with him because they're afraid they'll lose their cushy gubmit jobs.

A sleazy, fast-talking used car salesman is going to take the path of least resistance. When he sees an opening, he's going to exploit it. That's his nature.
