From the first day Trump entered office he has spent like a drunken sailor. In 2016 the US deficit was ~ $587 B/yr. Currently, before this virus hit at was estimated to be around $1+ Trillion/yr. All that debt and Trump still couldn't achieve 3% growth annually.
US deficit surges 25% in fiscal 2020 and is $1.1 trillion over the past year

The US government is going to have to spend hundreds on billions to combat this virus, and then probably trillions on massive fiscal stimulus. AND we are most likely going into a recession which will produce another massive revenue shortfall.

When the dust settles the US deficit could be $3 trillion a year now... Yikes!

There is no way to come back from this. Trump has bankrupt our country. Many clueless people have said "We need to run our country like a business" No successful business operates this way, now we see why Trump had to declare bankruptcy so many times.

The damage Trump has done to America is only now going to be realized. He could be worse than Bush.

Trump crash Buuuaahahahahahaha...I was wondering what took so long....
Trump is going to come out of this a winner....a huge winner....

Trump with his ineptitude is taking us in the direction of Herbert Hoover. Trump has never been nothing more than a mediocre businessman who squandered a family fortune who only made a comeback because of a game show. Trump is nothing more than a male version of Vanna White but not as smart or competent.

So should Trump spend this money or not?
Would Hillary spend less?

I call Trump and his supporters "uber-Keynesians".

Keynes believed government spending should increase during downturns, and during booms government spending should decrease and pay down the debt.

Trump and the pseudocons believe the government should spend bigly all the time, more and more. Record spending.

Trump and the Hive Mind claimed a booming economy under Trump. But Trump was playing a very old Democratic trick. Government spending is a large part of GDP. So if you want to increase GDP growth, then you explode government spending to new highs.

Voilà.

And there's nothing in the piggy bank to fight the oncoming recession/depression.
