Trump was handed a thriving economy and and mostly peaceful world when he took office in 2016. It didn't go hell until 2020 with Covid and the George Floyd protests, and Trump had real Republicans on staff to curb his worst tendencies.

The world is not a peaceful place this time, and the economic recovery was just taking root when Trump was elected. He's undone the economy at a rapid clip, and is failing utterly to have any impact on the wars spreading around the globe.

This is a new federal holiday. There's always criticism when something new like this comes along. Give it ten years or so, and people will adjust, and resign to the fact that once you come up with another federal holiday, it is forever and there's no going back.
