trump's Juneteenth message

Maybe it's because Trump et al have stopped hiding their animosity towards Black people specifically, and that him making this statement on the very day that celebrates the slaves in Texas being informed that they were no longer slaves, two years AFTER slavery had been abolished is really kind of on the nose.

You can defend him all you want but people who are not afflicted can see how the timing of his comment is 100% on point.

“Too many non-working holidays in America. It is costing our Country $BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to keep all of these businesses closed,”

Can anyone guess why he posted that today?

I can, and it rhymes with "racism"

Oh wait, did I say rhymes? My bad, it just is racism.

It's sad how ignorant some US citizens are about their own history, June 19th 1865 wasn't the end of slavery in this country. That didn't happen until 1866 when treaties with the 5 civilized Indian tribes forced them to give up their slaves.

Workaholism.

How can a day off hurt the economy? Makes no sense.
/----/ Loss of productivity, loss of revenue that can never be recovered. Let's pretend you work for a living and are paid hourly. Do you earn any money when you're off work, on vacation, or during holidays?

I worked in employment in the late 1970's when Martin Luther King Day became official. Much of where I worked was African American. Due to the nature of the employment employees had a choice of what was called major and minor holidays off during the year while working the rest. King's birthday was in January. The employees with more seniority and had first choice was in a percentage African Americans. Very few picked MLK day. Most of the people off or even forced off were White people. Throughout all of this they spoke of having King become a holiday endlessly. The moral is you have to have foundation and structure and live by your convictions. Many people do. When you break people down to groups though, it becomes percentages. And it makes a group not look good due to the percentage who disappoints.

A decent employer provides paid federal holidays and paid vacation and paid sick days. An employer who doesnt, does not deserve good employees.

15th post
He didn't say it on any other federal holidays.
Thats a good point.

Oh shit, I agreed with you...I feel like I need to go take a shower.....

Like all presidents before him he will be glad to leave the position in 2028.
BTW. Trump did leave the presidency for 4 years in Jan 2021.
He hasn’t talked about being a king or a dictator lately.

The funny thing is all the white liberals who will take off on Juneteenth....isnt that considered out of place?
