During the early 1980's I lived in downtown San Jose, California when the area was ingulfed by refugees of the War in Vietnam. Most were desperately poor. They were also good people. They took any job they could find and stayed off of welfare. Vietnamese teenagers did not spend their days harassing their teachers. They tied to learn, even though most had trouble with the English language. Vietnamese teenagers did not spend their nights getting into trouble. They did their homework.Regardless of racists' self-serving fixation, gender, age, socioeconomic factors, and firearm permissiveness are key drivers of violent crime in the U.S.
Those Vietnamese teenagers had every alibi for social pathology. They had spent their lives in war zones and refugee camps. They did not need alibis. When I was a child, a teenager, and a young adult. I made excuses for blacks. When I got older, I got tired of making excuses for blacks. Now I am tired of hearing excuses for them.
I would often get off work at 10:00 pm. and walk two mils to get to my apartment. I was perfectly safe. No one is safe walking through a black neighborhood that late.
