The employer should have no say in this. If they don't want to pay then don't ask employees to work longer.

They are paying - time and a half. If you say the employer should have no say in this then that destroys your argument that it is fair to them. By the way, many employees want to work overtime.

it would vary on industry,,

for sure fast food workers are paid to much,,

its supposed to be an entry level or second job industry not a living wage,,

we need low paying jobs for low skilled workers to be able to work themselves into something better,,

If I were starting out as a young worker I wouldn't apply for anything less than $15 per hour today. They say our labor force is slowly shrinking so that's only going to rise. Not a bad thing though.

Businesses close all the time. New ones pop up. If they can't afford to pay then don't hire. Fo the cooking themselves or close up shop. Not my concern.
It's never, in the history of this nation, for employers to find great workers. It's better when they have to compete harder for workers. All that said we don't eat fast food. It's toxic.
