In a Republic, actually
ā€˜Trump’s deal with China follows a familiar script. Trump imposed preposterously high tariffs on China of 145 percent, effectively a boycott. China retaliated by imposing its own tariffs of 125 percent and blocking exports of critical materials such as rare earths that America needs.

Predictably, the damage was expected to be massive. So Trump needed an escape hatch. Once again, his administration has ā€œsuspendedā€ the exorbitant tariffs, lowering them to 30 percent—the same range as the current tariffs of 25 percent on much of China’s exports. The Chinese reciprocated by cutting tariffs on U.S. exports to 10 percent.

The ā€œsuspensionā€ of the higher tariffs will be in place for 90 days, while a joint working group addresses more fundamental issues. This will not solve the immediate looming shortage of Chinese imports that has been building for over a month, and even 30 percent is a stiff tariff. But more fundamentally, the deeper issues dividing the U.S. from China will not be solved in 90 days, if ever, and today China has the upper hand.
[…]
So Trump’s adventure in creating a de facto boycott of China, and then his pullback, leaves the U.S.-China relationship exactly where it was, with no progress toward the deeper issues. If anything, China has a lot more leverage on the U.S. than vice versa, and is more astute about using it.’

Of course, Trump and his defenders will continue to lie about the ā€˜deal’ being ā€˜successful.’

I have no idea why you people don't get that two months ago, China was charging us a 67% tariff and we were charging them 34%. Now they're both at 10%. How is this not an enormous win for the US? We are not 'where we were before the Trump tariff". We are hundreds of billions of dollars richer. What is hard to understand about that?

1. Because lefties are liars.

2. Because lefties are anti-Americans, and thus on China's side.

Progs believe we can print fiat currency into endless wealth. When you come to power again, just tax the rich and the corporations into huge percentages. What sucks is that the smart Prog politicians know we have to do something, and they are playing this stupid game.

Trump played us all with the threat to raise the tariffs.

He scammed us, all his buddies made another fortune in the market (I did very well once I realized what he was doing), and if the US/China levels at 30/10, the recession will not happen and inflation will go up minimally.

If this was his game, well played, and we all got scammed.

You are going to need to document that claim hoss.

Ironic, since your quoted post is completely non-factual. Who are the lairs?

In this case the lefty poster we were discussing, who lied about the change to the status quo.

I mean, it was clear. Oh, wait, you are playing dumb, to give yourself an excuse to talk shit.

Sorry for taking your words seriously for a second.

You said nothing factual. Run along.

He got what was best for us, he knows how to make deals. If you didn't have tds, you would realize that. If that's a scam, he needs to scam you everyday.
