Trump’s boondoggle wall breached 3,000+ times!

$11 billion spent on a wall that can easily be penetrated by cheap power tools found in any hardware store. Over 3,000 times so far, since 2019. Totaling over $2.6 million in repairs, and counting. What a waste of taxpayer money. Has the check from Mexico cleared yet?

NACO, Ariz. — Mexican smuggling gangs have sawed through new segments of the border wall 3,272 times over the past three years, according to unpublished US Customs and Border Protection maintenance records obtained by The Washington Post under the Freedom of Information Act.

The government spent $2.6 million to repair the breaches during the 2019 to 2021 fiscal years, the CBP records show. While the agency has acknowledged that smugglers are able to hack through the new barriers built by the Trump administration, the maintenance records show damage has been more widespread than previously known, pointing to the structure’s limitations as an impediment to illegal crossings.

Trump promised Mexico would pay for the structure, but his administration spent roughly $11 billion in taxpayer funds, most of which he diverted from Defense Department accounts. At rallies, Trump likened his wall to a “Rolls-Royce,” but he stopped claiming the barrier was “impenetrable” in 2019 after the Post reported smugglers had learned to saw through it with conventional power tools.
Hey at least someday it will become a Tourist Attraction like the Great Wall of China. People will flock all over the world to look at a wall that resembles Swiss cheese.

Agree. People flock to the Rome Coliseum and that thing is no longer useful and falling apart too.

Definitely. I’m thinking it should be the final phase of basic training for all US military forces, as many LEO academies as possible, and allow tourists along certain sectors to buy “guided hunt” permits.
No bag limit.

how many illegals crossed through these breached walls?

How many illegals came through this way?

Regardless, they are coming in. My view has always been to install double walls like Israel has and include technology in the mix. The present wall isn't working as intended (trump said it would be impenetrable), and it is one ugly MF and expensive for the result that we are getting, as the picture shows.

We can safely say the actual wall and the entire concept of it is a huge, embarrassing failure.

Glad that's settled.

Right-o....And we can we also agree that neither wing of the uniparty would ever propose such a thing?

As much as I'm an open borders guy in principle, we're left with bad choices to mitigate border challenges because of bad domestic policy.

A few million in repairs to a barrier is small potatoes in comparison to billions in making the world's freeloaders comfortable in Murica.
Who knew that numbnuts Trump's vanity wall could be breached by Carlos brandishing nothing but a battery powered Roto- Zip?

One of Trump's cronies no doubt supplied the steel panels used to build it.

The solution is actually quite obvious: the fence should be electrified. Not like a regular electric fence, it should be humming with enough power that anyone touching it with even insulated tools is incinerated-not killed, blasted to carbonized dust. 50,000 volts and 100 amps should do it.

Multiple options...walls work in some areas, not so we in ithers...lots of high tech options too. You also need to address the push factors
and modernize our immigration process.
Ummm…okay. Walls and men with guns patrolling it. Then why freak out about a wall? You either support a secure border that stops virtually all attempts to cross it illegally, or you want open borders.

Of what benefit to America is a policy of open borders? Please be specific.

If we have no borders, what constitutes our country?

If they did, so what?

It has proven to be effective. Why is that a bad thing?

Anyone.

President Joe Biden is spending at least $3 million a day on contractors “to watch steel rust in the desert,” Senate Republicans have found — as he tries to put a stop to former President Trump’s planned wall along the US-Mexico border, despite the ongoing crisis there.

“President Biden is paying professional construction contractors to babysit metal to the tune of $2 billion and counting, while at the same time we’ve seen a 20-year high number of migrants crossing our open border,” said Sen. James Lankford (R., Okla.)

A report issued this week by GOP members of the Senate’s Subcommittee on Government Operations and Border Management found that at least 20 percent of the $10 billion received by the Pentagon for border wall construction has instead been spent on guarding construction sides and terminating active contracts.
