The SCOTUS told him he didn't have unfettered immunity.
They made it clear that he could challenge on different grounds.
Doubtful any of his lawyers actually believed the first go around.

Since a DA can only investigate crimes within his jurisdiction, that means for that to happen Trump would have to have traveled to each of those locations, and while there commit an act that has enough evidence of being a provable crime, to investigate.

So it is possible, but just imagine how many frequent flyer miles that would take.

That's why he switched sides (vs the texas case) to overturn the new law, thus invalidating the change in the court by Trumps appointees Gorsuch and Kavanaugh.
