See: Trump Wants To Eliminate Income Taxes: 5 Ways This Could Impact Your Salary in 2025

February 22, 2025

"During President Donald Trump’s successful campaign bid last year, he proposed eliminating individual income taxes for all Americans and paying for the lost revenue by increasing import tariffs."

Well, if Trump is really sincere in wanting to do that, perhaps he ought to support The Fair Share Balanced Budget Amendment:
.

ā€œSECTION 1. The Sixteenth Amendment is hereby repealed and Congress is henceforth forbidden to lay any tax or burden calculated from profits, gains, sales, interest, salaries, wages, tips, inheritances or any other lawfully realized money.

NOTE: these words would return us to our Constitution’s original tax plan as our Founders’ intended it to operate! They would also end the experiment with allowing Congress to lay and collect taxes calculated from lawfully earned ā€œincomesā€ which now oppresses Americaā€˜s economic engine and robs the bread which working people have earned when selling the property each has in their own labor, not to mention the amendment would end federal taxation being used as a political weapon to harass and attack political opponents!

ā€œSECTION 2. Congress ought not raise money by borrowing, but when the money arising from imposts duties and excise taxes are insufficient to meet the public exigencies, and Congress has raised money by borrowing during the course of a fiscal year, Congress shall then lay a direct tax at the beginning of the next fiscal year for an amount sufficient to extinguish the preceding fiscal year’s deficit, and apply the revenue so raised to extinguishing said deficit.ā€

NOTE: Congress is to raise its primary revenue from imposts and duties, [taxes at our water’s edge], and may also lay miscellaneous internal excise taxes on specifically chosen articles of consumption [preferably articles of luxury]. But if Congress borrows and spends more than is brought in from imposts, duties and miscellaneous excise taxes during the course of a fiscal year, then, and only then, is the direct apportioned tax to be laid in order to balance the budget on an annual basis.

ā€œSECTION 3. When Congress is required to lay a direct tax in accordance with Section 1 of this Article, the Secretary of the United States Treasury shall, in a timely manner, calculate each State’s apportioned share of the total sum being raised by the agreed upon apportionment formula found in our Constitution, and then provide the various State Congressional Delegations with a Bill notifying their State’s Executive and Legislature of its share of the total tax being collected as done on July 14th, 1798 LINK (at the link enter 62 in the box at the top of the page and then press enter on your keyboare), and a final date by which said tax shall be paid into the United States Treasury.ā€

NOTE: our founder’s fair share formula to extinguish an annual deficit is:

States’ population

---------------------------- X SUM TO BE RAISED = STATE’S FAIR SHARE OF DIRECT TAX

Total U.S. Population

The above formula, as intended by our founding fathers, is to ensure that each state’s share towards extinguishing an annual deficit is proportionately equal to its representation in Congress, i.e., representation with a proportional financial obligation! And if the tax is laid directly upon the people by Congress, then every taxpayer across the United States would pay the exact same amount!

Note also that each State’s number or Representatives, under our Constitution is likewise determined by the rule of apportionment:

State`s Pop.

------------------- X House size (435) = State`s No. of Representatives
U.S. Pop.

ā€œSECTION 4. Each State shall be free to assume and pay its quota of the direct tax into the United States Treasury by a final date set by Congress, but if any State shall refuse or neglect to pay its quota, then Congress shall send forth its officers to assess and levy such State’s proportion against the real property within the State with interest thereon at the rate of ((?)) per cent per annum, and against the individual owners of the taxable property. Provision shall be made for a 15% discount for those States paying their share by ((?))of the fiscal year in which the tax is laid, and a 10% discount for States paying by the final date set by Congress, such discount being to defray the States’ cost of collection.ā€

NOTE: This section respects the Tenth Amendment and allows each state to raise its share in its own chosen way in a time period set by Congress, but also allows the federal government to enter a state and collect the tax if a state is delinquent in meeting its obligation.

"SECTION 5. This Amendment to the Constitution, when ratified by the required number of States, shall take effect no later than (?) years after the required number of States have ratified it.

The most clear-cut way: whatever political beliefs people and parties disagree on funding because it involves relative or subjective decisions that belong to individuals not govt, delegate those programs/policies for the people to decide what to pay for through STATE or through PARTY.

Only the policies that are uniform / standard where everyone agrees on govt managing those are authorized for state or for federal govt.

I f we agree to pay for roads, bridges and external structures, that's public and under govt.

If we don't agree on prochoice or prolife, health care, education or welfare, those subjective social programs are for people to manage democratically.

Instead of fighting over govt funding and jobs, just give tax breaks credits and deductions for people to fund their own policies and programs. The Parties have enough members per state and donors nationwide to run their own democratically elected Administrations

So let the Greens handle Energy and Environmental policy by Democratic representation and the Democrats can run their own Health Care, education and social service programs directly instead of fighting through govt to force other people and groups to fund or follow their creeds.

We need to apply the First Amendment back to Govt and recognize Political Beliefs and Parties the same as other types of Religious Beliefs and Organizations. The Parties shouldn't get free reign to impose their beliefs on the public through govt that other Religious Organizations are barred from doing.

Civil Rights laws demand Public Accommodations for all people regardless of Creed. So why are political parties allowed to push their Creeds through govt and force everyone else to pay for them?

That's where tax reform should focus. Separating political beliefs from govt and keeping public policy neutral and reflecting consent of the public not beliefs of one group over another.

It's so funny people thinking they are smarter than Trump. Musk is but Trump is more of the deal maker. He will try to do everything he said he'd want to do during the campaign. Like last time, he will do the best he can in our system of government. So, it's been a month and you all expect him to have everything done. So funny! This is why Democrats will continue to lose elections until they either move over to the Republican Party (which they are doing) or just go independent.

Tariffs would only raise about 1/3 of the amount taxes do.

And that is before any retaliation by other countries.

Trump Wants To Eliminate Income Taxes

I love the idea. Productivity should not be taxed. We should tax consumption. There was a time our federal government was funded completely on tariffs.

Honestly, the only true ā€œfairā€ tax is one where every citizen of voting age pays the exact same amount in federal taxes. That way no one’s voice is heard louder than another’s.

Too many communists and big government folk still entrenched in Washington?
Hilarious

If we just had a little oligarch country, we would be a world leading one like russia.

Now what do they lead the world in again? People falling out of buildings to their deaths...

And that is why I founders provided for an apportioned direct tax which, if laid directly upon the taxpayers, everyone pays the same exact amount.
