I have been stopped for misdemeanors, but not attacked by law enforcement since 1973. It took a Federal judge to force law enforcement to make it right materially, (which is all I wanted), and forbid law enforcement from throwing me back in jail, simply for insisting I be made whole. The Sheriff initially refused and was summoning deputy to have me locked up, but allowed me to make phone call. The Federal Judge was waiting for the call. And, I was never charged with a misdemeanor when abused by the Sheriff's department and that Sheriff to begin with, but I live in a country where we have rights.

But now that you've utterly failed in your attempts because decent people saw the foolishness of deporting maids and gardeners, you are kind of stuck with the murderers and rapists getting away because you've expended what little good will you had.

It's a matter of RESOURCES. If you only have the RESOURCES to deport half a million a year, then you should prioritize on who really needs to go, not who is pretty easy to catch because they show up at their immigration hearings or their jobs.

There's no good reason to limit immigration.

Here's the thing. Back in the day, the Maids and Gardeners would only come over for a few months to raise some cash and then they would go home.

Now, because you've made it such a hassle to get here, they come with their families to stay, because it's less trouble than making the crossing once a year.

We could have easily solved a lot of these problems with a guest worker program like Germany has.
