Trump suspends dividends and stock buybacks of defense companies.

Good God, y'all!

How many trillions have we spent looking for a cure for cancer and gotten jack shit in return?

What will it take for you te realize you're being played by the Cancer Research Industry?

I want to preface this by pointing out both of my parents died of cancer in their 50s. (Dad from Lung cancer, Mom from liver cancer that spread from her colon.)

As Pknopp points out, we've made fantastic strides since my parents died in the 1980s.

The country’s cancer death rate has declined 33 percent since 1991, thanks largely to cancer research that has led to new treatments, gains in early cancer detection and, most significantly, a sharp decline in tobacco use, according to a new American Cancer Society (ACS) report.

Of course!

The treatments make a fortune, by delaying death until the bank account hits flat zero.

Your fellow hyper-partisan Democrat, JoeB131 just literally criticized Trump for not curing cancer, something the U.S. has shoveled trillions of dollars to the cancer research industry in fruitless pursuit of.

He condemned him for cutting funding.

Except we have made those strides.

You can't truly "Cure" cancer, any more than you can "cure" old age. Cancer is merely what happens when cells stop producing workable cells. The reason why Cancer has moved up to the number 2 cause of death is because Cancer is what happens when you survive everything else.

We TREAT cancer.

It's sort of leftist on it's face but defense industries that depend on taxpayer dollars/.gov contracts should be held to more stringent standards.

It is totally leftist. Fiscal conservatives understand the problem is with our government's irresponsible spending practices.

I'm sorry to hear about your parents.

Your story makes me wish that we had spent even half of the money the taxpayers unwittingly spent on things like LGBT inclusion in Serbia on further cancer research.

As far as the Trump administration cutting funds, I would have to see details from a non-partisan source, in order to give an informed response. Without seeing your source, I know that government has been well-known for wasteful spending, long before Trump emerged in politics. That he is the one to finally go after such fraud, waste and abuse, is a good thing.

Contrast that to Democrat hero and second worste president in history, Jimmy Carter, who claimed that he would pay for all of his new spendig by cutting FW&W, but cut none that I know of.

How much did we actually spend on LGBT Inclusion in Serbia. Don't give me, "one dollar is too much", give me a number.

The problem with you guys who scream about debt is that the biggest line items are middle-class entitlements (or, as I like to call it, "White People Welfare").

Except he isn't. He's just randomly cutting things. And now that people are feeling the crunch, TACO.

Every president promises to cut Fraud Waste and Abuse, including Trump, but it never happens.

The thing was, Jimmy Carter, despite having a mild recession and runaway inflation, didn't run the debt up by that much. (Only about 300 Billion over 4 years). Compare that to Reagan and Bush, who ran it up by 3 Trillion in 8 years, or Trump who ran it up by 8 Trillion in one term and is saying, "Hold my Beer" now.

Minn welfare fraud invalidates your post. We see the same fraud in CA as well.
The Carter recession wasnt mild prime rate was 18% no one could borrow money and he created stagflation. IN addition the Community Reinvestment Act by Carter caused the mortgage recession when Bush was president

Trump fired 300000 useless government workers and has mad serious cuts in spending. Hes just getting started

I agree, the Trump recession of 2020 was much, much worse than the mild Carter recession of 1980.

But the Trump recession of 2026 will be much worse than that.

No education in the second kick of a mule.

Has anyone even asked what legal right Trump has to tell private companies what they can do with their own money?

Trump has laid the foundation for the strongest economy in history and in 12 months its thriving after the Biden disaster. GDP4.3%, biggest tax cuts for the middle class, 2 interest rate cuts, gas under 3 dollars, 300000 useless government employees fired, wages up, rents down, record DOW, record investment in manufacturing, energy policies that work and can meet demand of AI, record number of manufacturers leaving Europe and coming to America, Government workers in decline private workers increasing, rate of inflation slowing and no economist predicts a recession except Paul Krugman who hasnt been right in 20 years

guy, the economy is shit right now.

the only measure that means anything is layoffs and unemployment, and those are going up.
Consider that 300000 useless government employees have been laid off and 2.6 million illegals will effect the unemployment numbers. Private sector jobs are increasing and manufacturing investment is at record highs. Its not how many jobs but the kind of jobs that are lost and created. The economy is thriving and getting better all the time

During Carter's time all f the 1960's social programs ramped up along with affirmative action, diversity, feminism and women in the work force and anything else. State, city, local taxes and fees shot up immensely. Federal taxes the same with no inflation hedge addition to yearly tax forms and many tax brackets. People in 1980 earning 50 thousand dollars a year were in the 50% tax bracket. It does not mean they paid that, it means they were paying a lot. Malaise and stagflation. During a real growth time, Carter may have had success. Still, he did some negative things.

Carter was one term failure. He caused the worsts S&L bank failure in history stagflation, created the Iran problem, and passed the CRA which caused the mortgage recession.
