As more ships see its safe they will use the new route.
What we know from the latest sources
- Up to four commercial vessels per day have been able to cross the Strait of Hormuz with U.S. Navy sensing, guidance, and overwatch. These are not escorted convoys but ships moving with U.S. situational-awareness support.
- Over the last three weeks, about 70 ships have used the U.S.-guided route near Oman’s coast, according to reporting sourced to U.S. Central Command and the New York Times.
- These ships typically turn off AIS transponders and rely on U.S. radar, drones, and communications to avoid Iranian detection and threats.
