It’s hard for Trump to really negotiate from a position of power when the Iranians know the Democrats will oppose anything Trump does. They would rather delay until some feckless idiot like Biden is in the White House. They already know what happens when he “warns” someone.

There is no compelling argument for a war in Iran. They've used the "months away from a nuke" excuse for so long, no one cares.
And with the GOP's possible slaughter in the mid terms, even some of the most loyal aren't going to stand up for him.

As far as a consensus from our allies, after his stupid tariff wars and threats of taking over other countries (Greenland, Canada), none of them are give a rump.
