Trump says Medal of Freedom is better than the Medal of Honor

Here is a question that, because the resident MAGA MAGGOTS seem to think what Cheeto Benito said is all kinds fine, well, right and good.

What if Bill Clinton had said the exact same damn thing?

What if Hilary Clinton had said the exact same damn thing?

What if Barack Obama had said the exact same damn thing?

What if Michele Obama had said the exact same damn thing?

What if Joe Biden had said the exact same damn thing?

What if Jill Biden had said the exact same damn thing?

What if Kamala Harris had said the exact same damn thing?

What if Douglas Emhoff had said the exact same damn thing?

What you do, what would your reaction be? Cheeto Benito denigrated the Men and the Women of the U.S. Armed Forces who have recipients of the highest for valor our country bestow up a member of the United States Armed Forces? How would react if any of the former Democratic President had the Medal of Freedom is "Better" than the Medal of Honor?

How would they react to Democratic President had called the Men and Women who were Killed In Action while service to our country, "Suckers and Losers"?

He shits on the memory of our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen and Coastguardsmen who have been maimed in combat. He did not see them marching in parade because "It is a bad look for me."

That Orange Shit Pile has attack our Military and you people cheer him. **** YOU!

Every time I read a headline claiming Trump said something outrageous, I read the article and find out the headline is a lie, he actually didn't say it and said something else.
The MSM (Democrat media/press) is geared to low information citizens who only read headlines.

V.F.W. Slam Trump's 'Asinine' Remarks On Medal of Honor.

medal-of-honor_n_66c019a0e4b032c8a5be7e83

The Veterans of Foreign Wars criticized “flippant” comments from GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, who called a civilian award “much better” than the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military decoration.

These asinine comments not only diminish the significance of our nation’s highest award for valor, but also crassly characterizes the sacrifices of those who have risked their lives above and beyond the call of duty,” said Al Lipphardt, the VFW’s national commander, in a statement Friday.

The statement from one of the nation’s largest veteran advocacy organizations comes after the former president compared the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, to the military decoration at an event in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Thursday.

Or before he acts.

And these people think that is a good quality.

Trump Says Medal He Gave Donor Is ‘Much Better’ Than the Medal of Honor

For years, Donald Trump has been denying a claim from his own former White House chief of staff John Kelly that he once called dead veterans “suckers” and “losers.” President Joe Biden brought up the quote frequently when he was running against Trump, along with other allegations of his rival’s disrespect for service members. Now that Trump is running against Kamala Harris, his campaign has attacked her running mate, Tim Walz, by questioning claims Walz made about his National Guard service. So you might think Trump would make sure not to say anything that could even be construed as disrespectful to veterans.

But of course, staying on message isn’t Trump’s strong suit.

Thus, during a generally weird press conference at his home in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Thursday, Trump decided to pontificate on why the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award, is “much better” than the Medal of Honor, the highest military decoration.

Trump’s remarks are worse in context. He was sucking up to billionaire GOP donor Miriam Adelson, whom he awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2018, explaining this week that the honor she received is preferable because the soldiers who get the Medal of Honor are “either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets, or they’re dead.” Here are Trump’s full remarks comparing the two awards:

I have to say, Miriam, I watched Sheldon sitting so proud in the White House when we gave Miriam the Presidential Medal of Freedom. That’s the highest award you can get as a civilian, it’s the equivalent of the Congressional Medal of Honor, but civilian version.

It’s actually much better because everyone gets the congressional Medal of Honor, that’s soldiers, they’re either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets, or they’re dead.

She gets it, and she’s a healthy beautiful woman. And they’re rated equal. But she got the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

These are both high honors, and it’s weird that Trump is pondering which is “better.” But it’s particularly offensive that Trump is denigrating an award recognizing military-service members who demonstrate “gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty” because honorees are wounded or killed in their acts of heroism. The Medal of Freedom is awarded to people who have made “especially meritorious contributions” to the United States. What that means is up to the president’s discretion, and the list of honorees chosen by Trump also included Rush Limbaugh, Devin Nunes, and Jim Jordan.

Miriam Adelson, the widow of GOP megadonor Sheldon Adelson, is the fifth-richest woman in America and the richest Israeli, with an estimated worth of $30 billion.

It appears Trump was trying to patch things up with Adelson after he had an aide “fire off a series of angry text messages” to his benefactor. The New York Times reported last week:

The texts were particularly jarring because Mrs. Adelson and Mr. Trump had a friendly meeting just a week earlier at the Republican National Convention, according to a person briefed on the matter.

The texts complained about the people running Mrs. Adelson’s super PAC, Preserve America, into which she is pouring millions of dollars to support Mr. Trump.

At the time, Preserve America was spending nearly $18 million on a week’s worth of ads aiding Mr. Trump in three battleground states. The texts said that the officials running Preserve America were “RINOs” — Republicans in name only — and that Mrs. Adelson’s late husband would never have tolerated that, the people said.

The broader point of the Times piece was that Trump’s richest donors want to see him “recalibrating after a series of damaging mistakes.” Oops! Better roll the number on that tally of “days since Trump said something offensive and off-message” back to zero.

We all read what he said, we just do not agree that makes the MOF MUCH BETTER.

Just as your stupid ******* example does not make the GCM MUCH BETTER than the MOH.

But you have to defend your god, you are not capable of saying "well, yeah that was a dumb thing to say"

Sucks to be you.
Exaggeration is actually lying. I think one thing the American people want from their president is someone who will be straight with them on really major issues. When Trump was president, he downplayed Covid-19 because he was running for re-election. He lead the people to believe it was just a bad case of the FLU. Since no one wanted to wear masks, he went against his CDC recommendations to get votes, telling the people it's optional and I'm not going to wear one. At that time the only weapons we had against Covid was wearing masks and social distancing and he dismissed them and made fun of them. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing how many lives were lost do to his insane desire to get elected again.

There is no exact way of knowing how many lives were SAVED, except that it was a very large number.

  • Through the COVID pandemic, our Covid mortality rate was REDUCED from over 17,000/week in April. to about 2000/week in June. and remained very low throughout the year, as a result of the many smart things that Trump did..
  • 90% REDUCTION. > HUGE SUCCESS.
  • Massive production of Ventilators - These were left in short supply after the Obama/Biden admin (we now have so many we're exporting them),
  • the Navy hospital ships sent to New York & Los Angeles.
  • the stimulus checks,
  • The Task Force advice (ex. social distancing),
  • opposition/criticism of New York's dumb nursing home policies,
  • federal aid to hospitals, rapidly expanding production & distribution of medical supplies
  • travel bans (which Democrats called Trump a "racist' for),
  • Trump's advocacy of Hydroxychloriquin (now proven to be effective, despite criticism from Democrats), and Regeneron.
  • fast, continual development of a vaccine, and rapid success of Operation Warp Speed.

I really doubt many lives were save by ridiculing those that practiced social distancing and ignoring the CDC mask recommendation.

I wonder if the military still sees him as a great president.

I have great respect for my deceased father-in-law, a sniper in WWII in the 509th Parachute Battalion who was captured near Avellino, Italy on Sep 15, 1943. (Desperate Venture at Avellino)
He was sent to Stalag 2B Hammerstein, the worst American P/W camp in Germany.
He continued his service after the war, becoming Special Forces Green Beret and served in Vietnam.

Trump needs to get his act together.

Trump has always had his act together. Since 2015 when he decided to run for president, he knew exactly how he would run his campaign and he never strayed from it. He would tell voters what they wanted to hear, He would "Make American Great Again." He never made it quite clear what that new American would be like. In reality it was removing whatever voters thought was wrong with American. The second part of his campaign was to attack, attack, attack and never go on the defensive. And his voters loved it.

Today, only the names of the opposition has changed, his message is the same.

According to trump, his billionaire donor who got the the Medal of Freedom received a better award than the soldiers that received the Medal of Honor. Here is a direct quote from Trump:

“I watched Sheldon sitting so proud in the White House when we gave Miriam the Presidential Medal of Freedom,” Trump said on Thursday evening. “That’s the highest award you can get as a civilian. It’s the equivalent of the Congressional Medal of Honor,” Trump added, referring to the highest military honor given for valor in combat.

“But civilian version, it’s actually much better because everyone [who] gets the Congressional Medal of Honor, they’re soldiers. They’re either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets, or they’re dead,” Trump continued. “She gets it, and she’s a healthy, beautiful woman, and they’re rated equal, but she got the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and she got it for — and that’s through committees and everything else.”

What kind of sick **** even thinks about saying something like this?
The Big Dope From Queens Has Really Pulled a Ralph Kramden on this one

Said Duffy: ‘‘There are certain sacrosanct subjects that no amount of wordsmithing can repair once crossed.’’

Duffy, who was elected July 27 as the national commander of the VFW, said giving one’s life to the nation is the greatest sacrifice, followed closely by all Gold Star families who have a right to make their voices heard.

Without mentioning Donald Trump by name, President Obama called on Americans to honor Gold Star families at an event in Atlanta.

“No one, no one, has given more for our freedom and our security than our Gold Star families,” he said. “Our Gold Star families have made a sacrifice that most of us cannot even begin to imagine. They represent the very best of our country.”

VFW Admonishes Former President for Medal of Honor Remarks
The following is a message from VFW National Commander Al Lipphardt
August 16, 2024

WASHINGTON — “On Thursday, former President Donald Trump spoke at an event where he made some flippant remarks about the Medal of Honor and the heroes who have received it. In the video that has circulated online and in the media, the former president was recognizing Miriam Adelson in the audience who he awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom during his time in office. As he described the medal as the civilian version of the Medal of Honor, he went on to opine that the Medal of Freedom was “much better” than the military’s top award, because those awarded the latter are, in his words, “ … either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets or they’re dead.” He continued by comparing Miriam to MoH recipients saying, “She gets it and she’s a healthy beautiful woman. They are rated equal.”

These asinine comments not only diminish the significance of our nation’s highest award for valor, but also crassly characterizes the sacrifices of those who have risked their lives above and beyond the call of duty.

When a candidate to serve as our military’s commander-in-chief so brazenly dismisses the valor and reverence symbolized by the Medal of Honor and those who have earned it, I must question whether they would discharge their responsibilities to our men and women in uniform with the seriousness and discernment necessary for such a powerful position. It is even more disappointing when these comments come from a man who already served in this noble office and should frankly already know better.

While the Presidential Medal of Freedom maybe our nation’s highest civilian award, the Medal of Honor is more sacred as it represents the gallantry and intrepidity of courageous and selfless service members, often at the cost of grievous wounds and even their lives. It’s because of our Medal of Honor recipients that great Americans like Miriam Adelson have the freedom to live to their fullest potential and make such lasting contributions to our great nation.

We would like to remind Mr. Trump that the 12 times he had the honor of awarding the Medal of Honor as president of the United States, those were heroes not of his own choosing. He bestowed those medals on behalf of Congress, representing all Americans of a grateful nation. We hold the donation of their lives in service to our country in the highest esteem, and so should he.”
