That’s the way it’s supposed to be.”

“That is why, today,” he said, “I am directing the Bureau of Prisons, together with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security, to reopen a substantially enlarged and rebuilt ALCATRAZ, to house America’s most ruthless and violent Offenders.”

It will cost billions of taxpayer dollars to rebuild the prison that sits in San Francisco Bay. Also will cost billions to maintain and even more billions of dollars to bring food and water, there is no fresh water on the island. The money could better spent schools, food programs and health care AND it will add additional billions of dollars to an already huge National Debt.

Even Air Force One is another example of an original order being canceled and another purchase for the two jets made saving literally hundreds of billions of dollars after they are outfitted with their systems.

The prison was opened in the 1850's as a military prison. Then came the Civil War. After the Civil War it was closed (for how long I do not know). It reopened in 1930's. "Scare Face" Al Capone and later Robert "The Bird Man of Alcatraz" Stroud were inmates there. It was closed as a federal prison in March of 1963. The cost of operating the prison were high and escape while deemed impossible, men did try to escape. On June 2, 1962 three inmates tried to escape, but their bodies were never recovered.

Around 20-30 million and 24 months it can be done and done well.
(I've built prisons before)

Granted it's a gubbermint job..and materials must be literally shipped in.

The problem is the construction crew. For the extra long commute to work for two years....the crew wants to get PAID .
And without the lawyers eating it up its possible.
