Present at the dinner were not just the president and vice president, but a host of top government officials in the line of succession, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the secretary of health and human services. Not to mention several key members of Congress.

Sounds like a White House event to me, no matter who puts it on. Or definitely should be. C'mon guys, an event like this is tailor-made for that ballroom for security purposes. Quibbling about this is ridiculous.
