Among the criminals trump pardoned was a major drug dealer who had nothing to do with 1/6. Ross Ulbrich was said to be the most influential drug dealer in history and ran the dark web site Silk Road for years where a wide range of narcotics could be purchased with bitcoin to prevent tracking of the transactions. He was sentenced to 40 years without parole until trump pardoned him along with 1500 participants in the 1/6 insurrection. Bitcoin supporters have been wanting his release because he was one of the first sites to openly accept bitcoin for drug deals.

. . . and we all know that Bulldog is himself, a very hard line, anti-drug person.

I have no doubt he has never taken Psilocybin, and condemns all that want to buy and sell mushrooms.
. . . what an awful person Trump is for doing this.

EVIL DOERS!

I did see a video.on his story, if it is the same guy. It was a story more based on the securiity aspects of his efforts and yes, his.criminal enterprise.as.it were,.he wss.the facitator and.the.website they used. It is possible they made an example.of him with the sentencing. Is 40 years the normal sentence for such a crime? It was.the.Wild.West of the internet at that time.

Ulbricht was sentenced to life in federal person in 2015 after he was busted by the FBI — and after Silk Road had facilitated the sale of over $200 million in illegal drugs and other illicit goods.

"Make no mistake: Ulbricht was a drug dealer and criminal profiteer who exploited people’s addictions and contributed to the deaths of at least six young people," Preet Bharara, then US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said in a statement at the time.

During his 2015 sentencing, district judge Katherine Forrest described Ulbricht as "no better a person than any other drug dealer."

Forrest had a point. Ulbricht didn't just sell drugs; he disrupted the entire industry. He wasn't your neighborhood dealer; he was the Uber of drugs, singlehandedly creating an entire new model that directly connected drug buyers with drug sellers — and taking a handsome cut in the process.

He was not a drug dealer.
He created silk road which is a decentralized marketplace....kinda like Craigslist but even more decentralized than that.

This is not a crime. And he assisted law enforcement catch bad actors on the site he created. So the only "crime" he committed was invention. Which is not a crime. But they invented crime to charge him with...and put him away.

Another great call by Trump. Now Ulbrich should be awarded the Medal of Freedom for designing the Silk Road.

Preet? Not surprised. The Obama admin was infamous for giving long sentences to nonviolent criminals and separating families

This guy didn’t even actually sell any drugs, he didn’t profit from any drug deals directly, he simply created a website that the demafasict couldn’t control

Giving this guy a life sentence was a miscarriage of justice.

Typical MAGA defend the scum remark.

Our government has changed. Not for the better. Much much worse than ever before.

Rule by Law instead of Rule of Law.....subtle difference in words but huge difference in effect.

Meaning that they can make YOU illegal by the stroke of a pen and lock you up and deny you every right you once held. Human rights are now subject to what the Government grants you instead of what God gave you.
Even Abraham Lincoln, who absolutely broke the law, was not in favor of this.
But he started it....we get the consequences.

Rule of Law means that EVERYONE is subject to the laws of the land including the lawmakers and enforcers.

Rule by law? Laws come and go as the lawmakers and enforcers wish upon their whims but they are not especially subject to them. Just the people are.

And currently....we have Rule BY Law.

Nope....

I believe that he was horrified at what was happening. He was a kid who really did not understand the whole truth of what the consequences of his website would bring.

He then didn't know how to shut it down but he kinda slow walked it because he was making bank....kinda like those Only Fans girls do. A little wrong but they become wealthy sometimes.

Why Trump made a deal to free Ross Ulbricht

Angela McArdle: What role did the Libertarian Party play in freeing Ross Ulbricht?

I wouldn't go that far.

For the very reason of what happened.
Governments exist for our benefit. Even the hippy communes had a form of self governance.

You do know or maybe you don’t, many presidents have pardoned convicted individuals including many of your beloved D presidents.

Your overt partisanship sometimes results in ignorant posts. Try being more objective. There is plenty to validly criticize Trump for. Why go for stupid shit? Are you watching MSNBC again?

seems to me that the PARDONERS should be required to produce GOOD REASONS (for the sake of the country) for
pardons

Rule By law...
Trump is just as guilty as Biden of this.

Granted, more people like his laws than Biden's....but that doesn't actually fix the problem.

A good start would be to prosecute EVERYONE involved with J6. From the senators, judges, committees, FBI and marshals involved....including security guards. Every paper pusher as well.

Make public declarations about this infringement. Even Trump has fines to pay about his own culpability.

But they aren't going to do that.

The PEOPLE have lost their governance. It's over...utopia is on a countdown.

Here's a story thread on X about what "Rule By Law" becomes.

Is about a 5 minute read....but it absolutely explains why Rule By Law is notorious.
