Trump orders new census that does NOT count illegal immigrants

No because there are 27 Red states and only 12 dependably Blue states. Getting a 2/3s majority for constitutional changes would be more than possible in a convention. A new convention would add ironclad guarantees to the Bill of Rights that congress couldn't override.
There would be no 2/3ds majority on anything in a Convetion.

LOL!
You believe that those 12...I count 14, but whatever, blue states--the ones with 2/3rds of the population of the US-- would agree with the results of said convention?
I seriously doubt it.

I imagine that the Blue folks would hold out for proportional representation...which the Red folks would find unacceptable.
The only way for a Convention to be successful would be that everyone agree to be bound by the results..beforehand.
No side would agree unless they thought they had victory in the bag....like counting each state as one vote.
Or...basing votes on population.

A convention is a bad idea they would totally rewrite the Constitution, and it is fine as is.

We need the same super majority requirement for every bill before Congress. If we don't have a real consensus, we shouldn't pass laws that affect the entire country.

Given the current state of our politics, it's pretty hard to imagine anything productive coming out of a convention. But it might at least provoke discussion of things that matter. Or not.

Article V

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; …

The National Convention still only proposes amendments. Once the National Convention proposes them then the are still returned to Congress that then gets to decide the method of ratification by 3/4 of the states. Either by state legislatures or state Conventions.

Either way it then takes approval by 38 of the 50 states.

I don’t agree. The Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights needs reinforced against the gradual erosion from liberals.
