Why?
Russia is not just winning , it is dismantling the remnants of the UAF all the way down the eastern front .
My intel is that already preliminary talks have happened-- without the Mad Midget ---- who finally is close to winning the the order of The Boot .
Russia is totally in control unless Trumpfy chooses to use Energy and Banking sanctions to quieten dear Uncle Pooty .

Why would Ukraine agree while Russia just keeps captured territory and has sanctions lifted and Ukraine gets nothing?

I dunno how this will all work out but one thing I do know is that Trump is not the ***** that Biden was. He will do what he says and both sides in that war know it. And he is not afraid to pressure both sides to accept a deal and he wants a deal done. This is a man that cares more about his own legacy than he does about anything else, and I am convinced that he wants to be the president that ended that war.

To me, to get Ukraine to stop fighting they need to get something in return
In return for ceding substantial territory to Russia they need a rock solid assurance of security.
If not actual NATO membership, they need peace keeping forces and sustained military and economic assistance

You need to be far more clever with your attempted sarcasm than frankly you are capable of .
It has been a massacre these last three months .
Russia's main problem now is knowing what to do with the UAF surrendered .
Both US and NATO have admitted there is no way that Ukraine can win .
But the lone bleating cry from Silly Pinger still denies reality.

I think Trump will pressure Ukraine to stop the war or our military aid will eventually stop. I am not sure of the details, it may be that for now Trump is obligated to send a certain amount of stuff to Ukraine, designated by law (Congress). He's gotta live up to whatever Biden and Congress agreed to and I don't think he can arbitrarily stop lawful payments. He kinda got in trouble the 1st time doing that, no? BUT - there's a new sheriff in town and further payments could be denied once the next appropriations bills hit his desk. I don't believe he's afraid to veto anything that he doesn't like, and I think he wants to be the president that ends that war.
So, what does Ukraine get? They get to continue to exist as a sovereign nation, at least in theory. How long can Ukraine continue to fight against the Russians and those crazy North Koreans without US aid? Can they hold out until Trump's term in office is over and hope for a democrat president?

Maybe, but beside the point. Which is that how long can Ukraine continue to fight that war without US military aid? And what if Trump influences the UE enough to stop their Ukraine aid too? Do they care that much about Ukraine's sovereignty? It is to everybody's short-term benefit if that war ends. Except for Ukraine that is, without outside help they are kinda screwed, no?
Long-term is another thing. It looks to me like it is inevitable that Ukraine will return to the days of being a Russian satellite country, either by overt (war) or covert actions. I don't know the ramifications of that for us or for Europe if and when that happens.

The sooner Putin decides it is sensible to expand to Odessa and the Romanian border , the better .
We need the US put firmly in its place and NATO shown up for the puny outfit it truly is .
All those NATO countries plus the Bully King in Chief , the US , could not hold on to eastern Ukraine .
The mind boggles at their incompetence and weakness .
Hopefully now is the perfect time for Putin to stamp his mark on this part of the world and say No to further encroachment and fear mongering .
