Trump Offering a License To Steal

Based on reporting from February and March 2026, Susan Rice, a former Biden administration official, warned that corporations, law firms, and media organizations that supported Donald Trump's agenda would be "held accountable" if Democrats return to power. [1, 2]

While some critics, such as Senator John Kennedy, interpreted these comments as "payback" and a threat of political retribution, the full context suggests she was focusing on accountability for actions taken against democratic norms, rather than a broad, unlawful prosecution of Republicans. [1, 2]
Oh, I see…Dem says it, and it’s accountability, Trump says it and its vindictive retribution….you're nuts

I don’t have to disprove your claims, you must prove them…that’s how this works.
So, you won't Google it because you know the answer is not all the files have been released. How cowardly of you.

Could I persuade you to put the false equivalences aside for a moment and ask if you think the following is corrupt?

President Donald Trump has told people around him that he will “pardon everyone who has come within 200 feet of the Oval Office” before his term is up, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Trump apparently brings up the subject of pardons when staffers raise fears of being prosecuted for actions taken on the job, particularly if Republicans lose control of the House in November and Democrats gain subpoena powers.

The implication being trump has asked staffers to commit crimes.

Who’s on that list?
Calls for Prosecution and "Accountability":

Liberal politicians and media figures have demanded that Trump and his "collaborators" face prosecution for actions taken during his administration. Some have expressed anticipation for a "political reckoning" or "punishment" upon returning to power.

Targeting "Trump Inc." and Allies:

Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.) suggested that Democratic control could allow for renewed, high-profile investigations into "Trump Inc. and the Trump family" using congressional subpoena powers.

Retaliation Against Corporate and Political Opponents:

Former Biden official Susan Rice has suggested that companies, law firms, media entities, and tech companies that supported Trump will be held accountable, hinting at future congressional investigations and retribution.

Specific Legal Action:

Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) has called for criminal prosecutions of Trump officials, particularly regarding immigration enforcement policies.

Other Democrats have signaled potential legal action against officials in the current administration for perceived abuses of power.

Focus on Post-Election 2024 Scenarios:

While some discussions focused on the 2026 midterms, other reports indicated that Democratic legal teams had been preparing since 2024 for legal battles to challenge Republican actions, such as potential refusals to certify elections.

So your contention is that nothing the Trump Admin has done should be looked into?

Not dangling pardons?
Not bombing boats in international waters?
Not using tariffs politically?
Not instituting prosecutions against political rivals?
Not invading countries?
Not accepting bribes for enacting or removing tariffs?
Not the actions of ICE?
Not deporting citizens illegally or “by mistake”?
Not making money off stock trades timed to Presidential pronouncements?
Not investigating why the Epstein files law has been violated to blatantly?

None of that should be investigated?

Because they sure aren’t doing any of that now

It's not the first time it's happened. Roger Stone and Paul Manafort knew trump would pardon them for both lying to Mueller or refusing to cooperate with Mueller's investigation.

AI Overview

On December 23, 2020, President Donald Trump granted a full pardon to his longtime political confidant, Roger Stone, just days before Stone was set to begin a 40-month prison sentence. Stone had been convicted of seven felonies, including lying to Congress, witness tampering, and obstruction related to the 2016 election.

True.

And we need to vote these corrupt cowardly Republicans out of Congress in order to stem this outrageous behavior

Obviously the takeaway from this thread by trumples is you have TDS. TDS being the means by which they avoid dealing with the reality of his abject, demonstrable, corruption.

He dangled pardons for them in order to influence their testimony

No D prez has ever announced he will pardon anyone who commits a crime on his behalf.

Yes. Witness tampering being a crime.

Trump pardons Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Charles Kushner and others

The White House alleged "prosecutorial overreach" in Manafort's case and "potential political bias" in Stone's jury trial. In total, Trump pardoned 26 people and commuted part or all of the sentences of three others.

Stone was convicted last year of making false statements, obstruction and witness tampering as part of special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. The Justice Department initially recommended a seven-to-nine-year sentence, but eventually backpedaled after
Attorney General William Barr became involved.

One of many

The last thing we need on this thread is another false equivalence.
False equivalency requires me to claim they are equal in scale — I didn’t. I said both were wrong, which they were. If your argument is that Biden’s wrongdoing was acceptable because Trump’s was worse, you’ve just made the case for why executive power will keep expanding — because both sides will always find a reason to justify their guy. Wrong is wrong regardless of degree. A little corruption isn’t a little pregnant.
