The unemployment rate is about 4.9% right now. That means that out of all the number of people looking for work only 4.9% of them haven't found a job. The Labor Force Participation Rate is about 62.8% and that isn't all that bad considering the present social dynamics affecting it.

1. Baby Boomers are retiring in great numbers. Retiring means they are dropping out of the labor force.

2. Since 16 to 21 year olds are considered part of the Labor Force, and I suspect this age group is where another large part of non participation occurs, I am not surprised that the LFPR is 62.8 since many of those counted are college or high school students and Senior citizens.

Yes, OPEC had to compete with American oil, that's why they are helping to flood the market with energy. I just said that. As far as health care, many low income workers cannot afford obamacare. Deductibles are high and coverage is low. So now the penalties are kicking in for not having obiecare and people having to pay penalties. Speaking of terrorists, how did that Ohio Somali terrorist afford college?
