Putin's "special military operation" wasn't to conquer Ukraine.
He thought sending a token force of Russian soldiers into Kiev.
Would cause the government to collapse, citizens would revolt and kick out Zelensky, and elect a pro Russia leader.
But the U.S. and EU told Zelensky to order the Ukraine army to fight the invaders and he would be provided with all the weapons and money needed.
Putin had totally miscalculated the situation.
Now the conflict has been going on for 3 years.
