Of all the analyses of the president, this seems quite rational and lucid.
The father’s admonition [not posted] perfectly describes President Trump's place in the DC establishment since winning the election. They don't like him. They are afraid of him. He's different and different scares them. He does not think like them, operate like them, or play by their rules. So they want to take him out. They are the bullies, our beltway politicos and the media. Trump is not afraid of bullies. The quote is also a prescription for and an explanation of how Trump is dealing with his place in that world. Somewhere along the way he learned, or someone trained him, to never be a victim.
In the end, I think the president will be a winner because he’s what average Americans want, not the pols and media hacks.

Articles: Trump Is Different, and Different Scares People
Yet another clever way to rationalize the chaos of the Trump administration. 'Different' is not the issue. Comportment and competence is the issue. No one would hold difference for difference's sake as a paradigm leadership. Different could describe the 60's celebrity Tiny Tim. He sure was different, but lacked many qualities to assure stability.
A shameless self promoter, Trump has been a massive success at hoodwinking troubled people into believing his manners serve the best interests of this great nation. Those people wanted someone to come into Washington and shake things up. Done. But to what end? Six months in and the only accomplishment on the positive side of the ledger is the appointment of a Supreme Court justice. And that accomplishment had to be made by trashing the rules of the Senate and going 'nuclear'.
Meanwhile, Trump has castigated members of his own administration, his fellow Republicans in the House and Senate, our allies around the world and large swaths of the American people. Shake things up? Absolutely. But at the cost of his own legislative agenda and, hence, his ability to "make America great again".
We are not 'scared' of different. We are frightened about the very stability of our democratic process. We do not respect Trump for his comportment as his comportment suggests he does not respect us. This is not like sports where you can still cheer for a losing team because they are your team. This is actually governing which requires confidence in judgment and leadership. Has Trump instilled any confidence at all? Only among those troubled, frightened people who remain his most fervent cheerleaders.
