Trump is deliberately tanking the economy!

No, it took him until 2020, because the Obama economy was 8 years in the rebuilding, and it was strong.

Biden only had 4 years and the recovery didn't have strong roots into the economy. Starting a trade war with your allies has to be the dumbest thing ever.

This was the US Customs and Immigration hall at Pearson International Airport, last Friday as Canadians left for Spring Break. Usually, this place is packed on the Friday of Spring Break. There has been a 40% cancellation rate for Canadians booking travel to the US since Trump Announced his tariffs.

On Friday, Doug Ford announced a 25% surcharge on all electrical power sold to the USA.

It's probably a stock picture of a customs station before opening.

I wonder what they would be saying if this was happening in Biden’s term…

Yeah, I don't think so.

I've seen a lot of titles of blogs and videos stating that claim, and I don't think that's what's happening. The weird thing here is that what he is doing is going to damage, at least in the short term, two numbers that are near and dear to his heart: The GDP and the stock market.

A couple of things happened in that interview with Maria Bartiromo that's getting so much attention, the one in which skirted around talk of recession but still defended one if it happens:

First, he looked more relaxed than normal because he knew he was on friendly territory. And second, that made him comfortable enough to actually give an answer that is defensible: He's trying to "bring wealth back to America" by trying to re-focus as much production and distribution back here as possible. I sure as hell don't like the way he's doing this, and I sure as hell don't know if it will work, but at least he was calm enough to make sense.

Here's my theory (with absolutely no proof to back it up): He has touched on this stuff in the past, but not like this. I think someone got to him, someone he trusts, and filled in all the details and tactics for him. So while he and his oligarchs stand to really make out here, it could be argued that the actual goal is sound. The execution? Yeah, we'll see. This is a sloppy mess. But I don't have to like it.

We’re Already Seeing Signs That Trump Is Tanking the Economy
So, if I read you right, you’re against bringing manufacturing back to America, businesses like pharmaceuticals, chips that go into our defense, etc?

Trump is punishing all these countries who rip us off. The UAW just yesterday applauded Trump's efforts to stop the bleeding of American jobs to these countries.
How is Canada ripping us off?

Interloper? Suddenly we're your enemy??? Because Trump told you so?

Get out of Grandma's basement.
Canada isn't our enemy. But we're not going to let Canada rip us off anymore than we would let an auto repair shop rip us off. The days of ripping off America and screwing over our workers and industries is at an end.

Wines from Chile, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand have replaced American wines on the shelves of our liquor stores, and NOBODY is buying anything coming in from the USA.
Obama had 8 years to get us out of his recession and he failed.... Trump's economy even during covid was better than the Biden economy....

Trump would have to be a Russian asset to want to sink the US economy deliberately...oh wait!

Meanwhile...

While claiming to be from Canada, all of Dragonlady's posts are geared to benefit China the most. :terror:

Is there one country who does not employ tariffs?

No, yet we are all led to believe that Trump is destroying the world economy with his tariffs via Legacy media.

Are tariffs good for the economy? Not really, because it is just a tax and taxes never help an economy, which is why Trump and the GOP need to follow his tariffs with tax breaks for Americans to help improve the economy.

Tariffs are simply economic warfare between countries that everyone does.

In fact, Joe Biden even kept some of Trump's original tariffs when he took office. In fact, Joe Biden increased them.

Am I sold on tariffs? Not really, IO am sold on taxes about as much as I am tariffs, but like taxes they are there to feed the bureaucracy as world bureaucracies of various countries go to war with each other.

Now what really hurt the world economy was the Left shutting down the entire world economy while Joe Biden was in power, something no one will ever own.
Mac said: "Hold my beer!" Also he started the same thread yesterday. :rolleyes-41:
