Grand Juries do not determine innocence or guilt. Their only duty is to determine if the likelihood of legal statutes being broken.

The trial, with full discovery, witnesses for the defendant, motions to dismiss etc, where the defendant has due process...

and a trial jury determines if the prosecutor proved the defendant committed a crime beyond a reasonable doubt.

if just 1 of the 12 believe the prosecution did not prove such, then there is no conviction.
