The Senate passed a resolution by an unanimous voice vote that “affirms that the press is not the enemy of the people” and “condemns the attacks on the institution of the free press.”

Trump is not attacking Freedom of the Press, he is fighting back against outright lying, hype, distortions and left wing spin that he rightfully calls "fake news". He has Freedom of Speech to criticize the Press.
An honest Press is vital for our democracy to survive.
