This is good, we really do not need war, especially a war that Israel seeks.

No deal with the ayatollahs can be a good deal because they will determine how long the deal lasts. A negotiated opening of the Strait would be a strategic defeat. If Trump is doing this because of the unpopularity of the war, the way to change that is to win a victory, not allow the ayatollahs to drag this thing out.

Maybe, but I think he knows the Iranians aren't going to make any concessions until he forces them to. Maybe he's got new intel that indicates a better way to hit them and he needs time for his military to develop a strategy plan of attack. Or maybe this is political in nature, he's holding off in hopes of gaining some support both here and abroad for his next attack. It seems to be unavoidable IMHO, I don't see Trump declaring victory that nobody will believe is true and then walking away. Or maybe he just wants to surprise the bastards.

As far as Trump is concerned, what's the hurry? Tonight, tomorrow, next week, does it matter much? It's possible he's just waiting for them to commit an atrocity of some kind somewhere so he's got justification to bomb the piss out of them. Or he could have other reasons; you don't want to attack the enemy if they know when you're coming.

We already bombed the shit out of Iran. What we're seeing now is the total lack of a strategy for what to do if that didn't work.

We know what at least part of Trump's strategy is, the blockade of Iran's ports which is preventing Iran from selling oil, its only source of foreign currency, and this will destroy Iran's economy in time, but this will take too long, so I'm guessing Trump thinks he sees conflicts among the leaders he can exploit.
