Donald Trump has usually made great decisions. His plan to back IVF is not one of them. IVF is immoral. The moral reasoning behind this may not be readily apparent, but the Catholic Church has a very good explanation as to why it is wrong. Good won't result from this.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that a child should be conceived through the love of their parents, not through medical intervention. The church considers in vitro fertilization (IVF) immoral because it replaces the intimate union of a couple. The Church teaches that the only moral way to conceive a child is through the loving embrace of the marital act. The dignity of the child requires this of us. This beautiful, wonderful expression of love between the husband and the wife works in cooperation with God to create a totally separate human being. That is why we call it procreation rather than creation.

And not only that, since the success rate is low, many embryos. aka human beings are destroyed. This is a worse evil than the reason above. In fact more humans are killed through IVF than abortion.

After our biological child was born, my wife and I were up against this. Ultimately we rejected IVF and adopted. It was the right decision. Hopefully President Trump will recognize this and reverse his decision.

Even Catholics tell their church to Fuk Off and get IVF anyway
Pregnancy is not possible without it

The Catholic Church is wrong on IVF and Birth Control
Most Catholics just ignore them because they know the Church is wrong

The teaching of the Magisterium is infallible. IVF is morally wrong. People doing it are in the wrong. There is no way around this.

Guess what?
You are entitled to your religious views but are not entitled to force them on the rest of the country

Most American Catholics ignore the teachings of the church on Birth Control, IVF and Divorce

They realize the Church is wrong on these issues and the Church needs to join the 21st century
Already addressed. Don't make me repeat stuff to up your response count, or I will place you on iggy.

Although I do see how IVF could potentially be a slippery slope....You're not saying that conceiving a baby in a different way in and of itself is always wrong, are you? I mean, if that were true, then Jesus' conception would be immoral, since it didn't happen in the normal way.

If that's not what you were arguing, then please correct me. Thanks.

Jesus' conception was completely different from IVF, as all Christians know. But also IVF results in many abortions. That is grievously wrong.

Ok. So it's not conception outside the body that is inherently wrong.... it's the discarding of new life and other potential problems that go along with it that are wrong. That makes more sense. But again, correct me if I'm wrong.

Again, the RCC catechism explains it very well.

IVF Catholic Church Teaching in the Catechism | HLI

It is natural for couples, infertile couples included, to desire children. But according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, IVF is not...

Any church or religion that proscribes every minute of your day is wrong.

"Work out your own salvation (albeit) with fear and trembling."

The teaching of Jesus is perfect. We should all want to follow what His Church proscribes every minute of every day. The verse you quoted is in line with Catholic teaching, that we must always strive for Heaven, since few make it.

.

I have a cousin and her husband that went the IVF route.

They had triplets ... The clinic called them three years later ...
And told them they were going to destroy the remaining embryos.

They are Catholic and were not really cool with that ... So, they ended up with twins from the remaining embryos.
Lovely family, great kids ... And they are raising a basketball team now ... :auiqs.jpg:

That's a fantastic story. A great "rebound" from a bad situation.

Boy, if you think we are overpopulated now, think what would happen if we only had sex when pregnancy was possible.

Judgment day is in the future. Even the righteous remain in their graves until then, including Mary. ;)

This belongs on the religion forum.

Well ... She's a nurse and he is an anesthesiologist ... Some say the best in the State.
They aren't hurting for anything ... Live a clean life ... And I would say they are blessed with their family.
I wouldn't say that someone didn't have a plan ... And it worked out well for them ...
