I didn't lift a finger in support of either major party candidate, neither of which I felt was qualified. As I've been contending lately, Republicans claim of being better than the Democrats is like picking low hanging fruit.

Why would he be optimistic? Putin has played him at every opportunity. Essentially Putin wants peace, which means Putin has won the war. Nothing else will be peace for Putin.
